Burgess Creek Beach
Need to cool off on a hot Steamboat summer day? Take the entire family up the the Burgess Creek Beach at the base of the ski area. You can relax, let your kids play in the sand, and enjoy the mountain views!
You’ll find a perfect depth for splashing around with the little ones. Burgess Creek runs down from the mountain and into the base area offering a great cool off spot. Grab a red chair on the sandy beach and watch the kids play amongst the rocks and wading pools.
Local’s Tip: Make sure to pack a picnic for lunch or grab a snack & drink from the Taco Beast. And don’t forget the sand toys!

While you’re visiting the Steamboat base area, make sure to check out the retail shops on the mountain that are open all summer including the Steamboat Bike Shop, Steamboat Mercantile, The Grand Gift Shop, Gondola General, Christy Sports, Sheraton Gift Shops, and more!

Scenic Gondola Rides
Take a ride up Mt. Werner & marvel at the Rocky Mountain expanse from one of Steamboat’s gondolas. Once you summit, breathe the fresh mountain air and take a photo of the family. Or, catch the Steamboat Gondola, warm up, and enjoy a delicious meal at one of our peak restaurants. Adult tickets (13 and over) receive a $10 dining voucher.
Spend time with the family, set the tone for a romantic date, or relax on a solo trip and watch the sunlight change shades on the peaks and valleys. Hikers: Bring snowshoes on the Steamboat Gondola and wander one of our gorgeous trails.* Tickets are valid for the entire day and include unlimited rides. Book now to secure your spot. HOW DO I GET MY TICKET(S)?
When you purchase a ticket online you will receive an email confirmation with a “Print Voucher” link. Scan the bar code in your Print Voucher confirmation at one of the conveniently located “Pick Up Kiosks” in Steamboat Square. Your ticket will print out and you can proceed directly to the Gondola. Young kids (4 and under) ride free, but still require a lift ticket to board and can be added during the purchase process.
Guests who have purchased a 24/25 Ikon Pass, 24/25 Ikon Base Pass, or 24/25 Ikon Base Plus Pass receive unlimited Scenic Gondola Rides. Simply go to the ticket office, located inside the Steamboat Sports Sheraton location, to receive your gondola ticket.

Guided Hike and Lunch
Looking for something to do during the summer at Steamboat Resort, and to get on Mt. Werner to hike around? Try the guided hike and lunch! Your journey starts with a ride up the Steamboat Gondola, where the views of the Yampa Valley will be on full display. From there, your mountain Ambassador will lead you on a one-mile hike with vistas, forests and hopefully an animal sighting, all while learning about the mountain and surrounding areas. After the hike you will have lunch at the Oasis Sundeck at the Thunderhead Lodge, where you will be able to choose from variety of menu options.
Plan on two-hours for your hiking and lunch adventure. Wear sturdy shoes and be sure to bring water and a light jacket. The hike is not difficult although the elevation is slightly above 9K feet.
Guided Hikes will be available Fridays and Sundays starting June 14. Meet at the base of the Steamboat Gondola at 10:30am. Reservations are required. Reserve your spot by calling (800) 922-2722. For same day bookings, purchase on site by 10:00am.
